The previous chapter, Manual, has been meant to show the average user how to use the elements of each screen of the idSpace project. It has also, where necessary, been explained what is currently expected from the user, and why we are doing at that point of the process what we are doing.
Most of these actions, but also choices carried out in the background, are triggered and controlled by the moderator.
As already mentioned earlier Motivation:_Support_of_the_Moderator, this person has a demanding task to fulfill:
- the moderator should have a very good understanding of the program and its single screens,
- the moderator needs to have good communication and group leading skills, and
- the moderator should at all times know which of the strategy and creativitey tools in terms of process choices are at his disposal.
In this chapter, we will try to help with the second and third point.
While it is quite a challenge to get to turn an introvert person into an extrovert, eloquent, naturally leading moderator, we feel that at least some of the pitfalls for successfull moderation can be avoided using checklists and guidelines.
This is why we have come up with a set of rules, guidelines and step-by-step checklists to support the moderator and help him not forgetting elements regarded as good practice.
These points are framed by a collection of general requirements in the beginning, and are followed by a more detailed look at how processes can be handled by the moderator.
